| | Since I last logged some web some pretty big things have happened. Some to me, some to the world. I am going to focus on me. If you want to read about that other stuff, go check out the Earth's blogspot page.
1) The Spring Training trip is looming and I am actually getting nervous for it. A scared, self-doubting type of nervous. Will I make the most of the trip? Will I nut up and actually try to talk to some ball players? Will I annoy the shit out of Beyer the entire time? Can I make it two days before the sunburn hits?
2) I am a Minnesota Twins season ticket holder! I am splitting a pair of bitchin' seats that we hand picked out with two Nealy's and a Brake. I have the pair for 20 games to be drafted at a later date (ever seen Fever Pitch?) If anyone in the area is interested in going to a game with me, please let me know. So far that seat is a backpack holder. I would love some friends.
3) I met my goal of a 30 pound weight loss started in October and ending in early February. I took the rest of February off, ate 4 boxes of girl scout cookies, and now I want 10 more pounds by my birthday at the end of April. I tried on all my shorts when I unpacked them last weekend, and they are all way too big. Now I have to blow a bunch of money on new clothes. Still, I look human again, which feels nice.
4) I think my television compulsion has really taken a hit this year. My two favorite shows are still The Office and 30Rock, but no longer in that order. I like the relationships that develop and evolve on The Office, but 30Rock is just more funny and clever. The Office is letting me down by going to the trouble of churning up a big juicy "storyline," despite their documentary premise, and then they do nothing to provide any closure or climax. They need to decide, do they want to seem only realistic at all times, or do they want to make crazy ass things happen? You can't have half the characters be zany and obviously scripted, and then have your hugely promoted romantic pair stay true to life and off the grid. We get it, you're not the Jim and Pam show. You've made that clear by getting them together and then cutting their screen time in half. Maybe you shouldn't have advertised the hell out of them until everyone of your viewers was invested and captivated by them then. You must choose!
Regarding 30Rock, I love the show. The one-liners are fantastic. I think they utilize a lot of different character pairings through episodes, so we are given a fresh dynamic to see every week, though the Liz-Jack relationship is the overall theme. They do that well, and I think the show is very creative. My one problem with the show as of late is that EVERY episode seems to have Liz going through some sort of challenge or decision to make, and the B-Plot mirrors it in every way, setting up a montage at the end of a shot by shot comparison of Liz to the B-Plot. Liz is George Henderson. Liz is a crazy arsonist. Liz is the Generalissimo. This setup works for now, but I hope that it doesn't get stale.
5) I am still not drinking, and it is really not as big a bummer as I thought. I really don't feel like I am missing out on anything. Ask me again come the Nerds Party...
Okay, we got some personal stuff, some ticket advertisement, and some TV review. Seems like a standard blog to me. Keep it real kids.
